Fancy s Family Farm Great Place to Visit Portland Dorset

Fancy's Farm is great place to take the young ones for a stroll out in the fresh air and see and interact with the animals. It is free, the farm however does rely on donations and they are all very gratefully received.

Very recently locals will know that the Farm was broken into and £600 was stolen. Some of that has been donated or collected back for them. One good thing is that it has raised the profile of the Farm and again strengthened the community. There is still a £250 reward out to catch those responsible.

It is open everyday from 10am until 6pm

They have a great range of animals including Portland Sheep, Micro Horse, Wallabies, Shire Horse, Commerical Sheep, Daisy and Clive Donkeys, Archie Goat, Chickens, Pigs, Ducks and Poppy and Ozzie the Farm Dogs. You can read more about them on their website right here

You can also find lots of information about the wildlife and flowers that you can find on the farm.

Try and visit during the Easter Holidays, it really is good fun my grand kids love it there. They have a Easter Egg Hunt on the 19th and 20th April 2014. A perfect time to start visiting in the Spring.

RYA Youth National Sailing Championships Weymouth 12th - 18th Apr 2014

RYA Youth National Sailing Championships Weymouth 12th - 18th Apr 2014
A record breaking number of Entries, of over 390, have been accepted for the RYA National Youth Sailing Championship here in Weymouth & Portland at the National Sailing Academy starting on Saturday 12th April 2014 and running to Friday 18th April 2014. They will be sailing on all courses that were part of the 2012 Olympic games.

This is where it all starts, most of our top Olympic Sailors took part in this event in years gone by. You have to take part to get into the British Youth Team. Sarah Webb Gosling OBE  (Pictured) will be one of the selectors on the panel to choose the team to go to the ISAF Youth WORLD Sailing Championships in Tavira in Portugal in July, so it is a massive prize at stake here.

Obviously only a few will make it, but it is testament to the strength in depth of British Sailing that we have so many taking part. It will be a brilliant event, lets hope for slightly better weather and the hundreds coming to Weymouth for this event for the week have a great time here.

Princess Anne will visited the event on 17th April 2014
